A high-end New York residence featuring bespoke millwork, stone-and-wood finishes, and layered architectural lighting across key living spaces. Interior design New York
The Shimonov Residence is a luxury interior design project located in New York. We developed this home as a calm and highly functional space with a refined modern-classic character. Initially, the concept was built around a warm neutral palette and tactile premium materials. We also integrated precise architectural lighting to bring depth to every surface. As a result, the interiors feel bright and airy during the day. In the evening, however, the atmosphere shifts into a softer and more intimate mood.
Our overall aesthetic balances contemporary minimal lines with subtle classic detailing. Wood textures add warmth and rhythm to the rooms. Meanwhile, stone surfaces introduce a quiet sense of permanence to the design. To create focal moments without overwhelming the composition, we added carefully chosen accents like brass-toned details and sculptural lighting. Consequently, this approach keeps the residence elegant, timeless, and easy to live in.
The master bedroom serves as a private retreat. It features a soft architectural ceiling and a statement headboard wall. Because we used gentle curves and textile surfaces, the room feels incredibly calm. At the same time, linear recessed lighting keeps the space visually structured. On the opposite side, the TV feature wall combines stone and wood panels with a floating console. This layered approach strengthens the room’s depth. Additionally, discreet lighting highlights textures rather than objects.
Storage is treated as an essential part of the architecture. For instance, the walk-in wardrobe features built-in systems with open shelves and drawer blocks. Warm integrated LEDs improve usability and make the space feel welcoming. Furthermore, fluted details at the upper perimeter add a subtle rhythm to the minimal volume.
The kitchen is a functional social hub anchored by a generous stone island. While matte and wood finishes keep the cabinetry calm, the stone backsplash unifies the space with a monolithic feel. In addition, integrated appliances support a clutter-free aesthetic. Large glazing and dark window frames strengthen the connection to the exterior. After sunset, layered ceiling lighting preserves clarity for cooking and dining. Finally, a sculptural glass pendant serves as the central visual element.
The bathroom design focuses on brightness and clean geometry. Light stone surfaces are paired with matte-black fixtures for crisp definition. Moreover, a floating vanity adds texture, while an oval backlit mirror softens the room. Moving into the hallway, the circulation spaces maintain the same design language. We used paneled built-ins and warm wood flooring laid in a herringbone pattern. This continuity is vital because it makes the residence feel cohesive from the first step inside.
